While traveling south on Smithfield Avenue from Lincoln to Providence around 6:45 pm on December 25th, 2016 my wife and I saw what appeared to be four orange and yellow lights in the southern sky. They appeared to be in some kind of formation, all traveling at approximately the same speed with one in the lead by at least 1/4 to 1/2 mile followed by two moving parallel with 500 to 1000 feet of separation and the forth approximately the same distance from the center two that the lead

light was in front of them.
They were all moving from east to west. After a few minutes the lead light appeared to grow dimmer and dimmer until it disappeared

(I got the impression that it went straight up, getting smaller and smaller until I could no longer see it.) About a minute later the rearmost light did the same thing. In about another minute the southern light of the two flying parallel followed the same sequence as the other two. Finally the northern light of the center two followed the others.
