Huge Object UFO Sighting from Woodstock, Vermont 1979

This happened in June, 1979 in Woodstock, VT. It was a sighting shared by more than six individuals.

It was a foggy afternoon around 3 or 4 pm. I heard shouting from outside dorm at Woodstock Country School, so I went outside to see what was up. Everyone was pointing up and shouting. Through the low-lying fog (school was located in a shallow valley) I saw what appeared to be a huge overhead mechanical flying object 200-300 feet over head making a deep ''thrumming'' sound with
    many small lights.

Because of the fog, it was hard to determine edges. The above description could only be seen from directly overhead. It was hard to determine
length of time of object passing above, but it seemed to have been several minutes given the time from hearing shouting. I went down three floors and witnessed the above from the middle of an open field. It sounded like a freighter going by at close range and similar speed. It felt like being in a row boat, and an air craft carrier went over me.
