Driving on Hwy 2 north of Charlestown, RI I saw an unidentified flying object in the sky. I first saw it as a faint light. There were no stars out that night so I naturally thought it was some kind of aircraft. I soon noticed it wasn't moving at all which was odd. Even helicopters don't stay put that long usually. My path took me towards the light and as I got nearer I saw that it was alternating color between white and orange whereas from further away it had appeared to be

off white or slightly yellow. Suddenly it gained an enormous amount of speed and took off like a bullet. There was no acceleration, just zero to superfast instantly.
