Lights UFO Sighting from Springfield, Oregon January 02 2003

I walked out of my friend's house at about 2 a.m. when I was left breathless from seeing beams of random colored light shining down on Thurston from a fixed spot in the sky. If I had to guess how far up the beams of lights were coming from, I'd say 1000 ft or more. It was so incredibly strange. It's hard to explain. These beams of light were projecting down from a single place in the sky, but there wasn't an object this light was coming from. It looked like something spotlighting
the ground from high up in the sky with brilliant colored light that was pulsing different colors every second. It flashed red, then orange, blue, purple, yellow,
green, white, and pink. I can't say how long this event was, maybe 10 or 15 seconds. I was completely floored by what I saw. The next night I saw a black helicopter with no indicator lights on flying low on the outskirts of Springfield. The helicopter sounded weird like it was way high up, but surprisingly it wasn't very high up. I will never in my whole life forget what I saw.
