Cigar Shaped Object UFO Sighting from Bayport, New York

There was a report in the Suffolk county news of a sighting in Bayport about 60 years ago. My sister. Friend and I were walking to a neighbor's house and saw it at tree top level. An actual large cigar shaped craft with colored lights all around. It left. At a speed so fast it seemed to disappear. The next day there was a story in the Suffolk county news that a clamber had seen it over the bay. We did no report it.
